Welcome to The East Tamar Mens Shed
The East Tamar Mens Shed inc. is a group of men from the Dilston, Windermere, Swan Bay and Hillwood communities who support each other through activities that promote health and well being.
The East Tamar Men’s Shed is a reality.
Our Constitution has been accepted by the Justice Department and we are
now an Incorporated Association in Tasmania. At last month’s Council meeting, The Launceston City Council has agreed to allocate the Council land behind the Dilston Memorial Hall for the construction of a shed for the
purpose of providing a community facility for The East Tamar Men’s Shed inc.
There is a strong group of support for this project.
It is a vision both for a growing and aging community. The major task ahead
is to establish premises from which we can work, and in the short to medium
term this means fundraising. We believe that this can be achieved by
establishing a capital amount of $25,000.
The group is determined to establish a facility that will support the need to age gracefully, with support from the male gender, as well as a potential to provide a role model for younger men who may need support in many ways.
At this point projects to be undertaken by the group are unspecified, but it is hoped that a facility can be established by mid 2012..
Please support our endeavours to establish this
facility in the district.
Donations can be made to the project by contacting the Secretary.
NEWS
The Xmas in July celebration was a huge success!. Held in the Dilston Community Hall on Saturday July 23rd, we entertained 35 members and guests at a 3 course sit down Xmas feast with fun and frivolity. A silent Auction of donated goods and tourist highlights was a feature of the evening. We raised over $1000 for the Shed funds.
Many thanks to the organising families : The Wynnes, The Hosfords, The Rileys and The Stuarts. Thank you to the Dilston Fire Brigade and the Community Hall for the facilities and the ongoing dupport you give to our fledgling organisation.
We are now official members of The Australian Mens Shed Association.
