Distribution and Habitat

This little bird will find you before you find it. It is most conspicuous and unafraid, flitting with spread tail amongst the foliage. There are five races of this bird in Australia. The Tasmanian race is darker than mainland races. This bird has a distinctive melodious high whistle followed by chatters.

Food & Feeding

It feeds on insects, and is most energetic in its pursuit of food. It often perches sideways, parallel to a branch.
